Any outside event at your club is an opportunity to showcase your event to the community. I believe it is very important to show people that are not members of your club the true value of membership and the amenities that the club offers. By hosting outings from outside your membership, it allows for relationships to be built that could lead to future tournaments, events, weddings or even memberships. It is important to gain contact information with the participants of these outside events. One way to gain this information is to have a raffle prize for a driver or putter that requires the participants to fill out a form with their contact information. At the beginning of the season in early May, I invite 25 prospective members to my club to have a complimentary round of golf and cart with three players of their choice. We do this to help showcase our facility to those people who might be interested in future membership or use the facility for events. After the round, we have hors d'oeuvres and a short presentation of Northland Country Club. Our goal is not to put the hard sell on these guests but to build a relationship with these people to potentially host their special events at our club in the future.

It is very affordable to offer a complimentary day of golf and small hors d'oeuvres for the guests of our club. The opportunity to showcase our club to these people often allows us to gain future business for tournaments, outings and other events. This is a great way for golf clubs to set themselves apart from others in the community to secure more business for the club while building relationships with people of the community.
