I carry three wedges of varying lofts in my bag.
This is the standard configuration for most pros these days.
Some even carry four wedges, depending on the course they are playing.
Theses wedges range in loft from 51 degrees to 60 degrees with flanges that get progressively bigger as the loft increase.
I recommend most of my intermediate to advanced students carry three wedges.
Given the way courses are set up today, and with the majority of the shots you play coming within 100 yards of the hole, it’s important that you come to the course with a complete complement of wedges for every conceivable shot.

One of the biggest mistakes I see among golfers is the tendency to chip with a wedge no matter what the circumstances.

This is just as wrong today as it was sixty years ago.
Good chippers choose a club that will get the ball on the ground and rolling toward the hole as quickly as possible.

If you are faced with only a few feet of fringe to carry and a long section of green between the edge of the green and the hole, you should always take a less lofted club and fly the ball to the edge of the green.
This requires a much smaller stroke than needed if you were trying to fly the ball all the way to the hole.
It also offers you a chance to roll the ball like a putt rather than trying to fly the ball into the hole.

You should take a club with enough loft to get the ball on the green and stop it near the hole.
If the hole is cut close to the edge of the green where your ball is resting, you might want to use a wedge, sand wedge, or even a lob wedge, depending on how quickly you need to stop the ball.
If, however, you have an ample amount of green between your ball and flag, then chipping with a 9-iron, 8-iron, 7-iron, or 6-iron.
With a little work you’ll be surprised how much closer you chip the ball to the hole.

Having a good pitching wedge, sand wedge, and lob wedge is invaluable in order to have options in hitting a pitch shot.
These clubs are designed to loft the club in the air without any extraordinary effort on your part.
The loft of the clubface is such that the ball jumps skyward when you make a smooth stroke.
Your choice of club will depend on how high you want the ball to go and how far you need the ball to fly.

在打劈起球时，最好有一个好的劈起杆、沙杆和L杆，以便有更多选择。这些球杆的设计让您不需要费很大力气就可以有足够的杆面角度。您只需做一个流畅的挥杆，球就会飞向天空。选择什么样的球杆，取决于您想击球的距离以及高度。

For the lob shot, it is crucial that your clubface looks like a pancake on the ground.
Your sand wedge or lob wedge works best for this shot because they are the two clubs that carry most loft and the biggest bounce (the part of the club that hits the ground during impact). You want to think about sliding the club underneath the ball through impact on this shot.
A perfect job for the heaviest club in your bag.

高抛球

Sand shots are the most intimidating shot on the entire course for most players.
But they don’t have to be.
To choose the right club for a sand shot, you must first look at what type of lie you have.
If the ball is sitting on top of the sand, use a sand wedge with a lot of loft and open the clubface.
If the ball is plugged into the sand and it looks like it would take a bulldozer to get the ball out, chose a club with a less loft and close the clubface in order for the club head to dig into the sand and pop the ball out.

Once you determine which club to use, it is only a few more steps to get up and down from anywhere around the green.
